Widows Project
The widow's project is aimed at reaching out to widows in Cameroon who are going through challenging situations and cannot support themselves.
Widows Project Criteria
Two Categories of widows are to receive help. For each category 10 windows are selected. A total of 20 windows are to receive support over each project season.
Category one: For widows who are able to do business or trade.
Category two: For widows who for one reason or the other are unable to do any business or train in a trade.
Category One
For widows who are able to run a business or do something, two-phases have been put in place to enact the widow's project. By the end of Phase 1 and 2, each widow must have received at least 100,000frs CFA each.
How we select these widows:
Through our liaison officers' nominations
Through each respective members' previous assembly back in Cameroon
Through each members' knowledge of any needy widow.
Phase One
- Widows to be selected are to have already been doing something such that we can support them.
- Widows with an ambition to learn a trade for example tailoring, hairdressing, and others are supported.
- The widow needs to be a Christian with an excellent standing in the faith.
- Financial support will be provided based on what the individual is engaged in but the amount cannot exceed 100,000frs CFA.
- The widows that are successfully trained in any trade by TACC Friends UK will pledge to train other widows in their local church assembly in the same trade as continuity of the project.
Phase Two
- The projects of the different widows are reviewed after 6 months and additional support is given to each widow with the widows that show progress given priority.
- After this phase 2, a new set of widows are selected and the process begins all over again for the new set of widows.
Category two
For widows who cannot do any business or trade either due to disability or some other reason, a one-off support of 50,000frs CFA is provided to 10 selected widows during the Christmas period.
Another set of widows is found under this category in the following year and the process is repeated.
